Thursford Christmas Spectacular

Thursford   Christmas Spectacular

After leaving on the Wollaton Travel Service trip for Thursford we had a comfort stop for coffee and a bacon butty at the Farm Shop. We  had  time to pick up some lovely fresh veg and had a look at the great selection of very reasonably priced plants. Then it was back on the road to the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, passing Kings Lynn and Sandringham en route.

We arrived around midday and as our show didn’t start until 2, we took the time to Check out the other facilities and attractions that Thursford offers.

Santa’s magical journey was amazing. There is a humorous 4d film to watch and then you wind your way past life sized animated polar bears, elves and giant dancing penguins, not forgetting the fabulous steam engines that Thursford is famed for. There is a Santa’s grotto open on Saturdays & Sundays  and school holidays which looked  magical and I honestly think you could pass it off to children as the real deal! The whole place even smells Christmassy!

After this we hit the shops,  ideal for picking up Christmas presents and beautiful and unique decorations. If you are feeling peckish there are various places to choose from, whether you are after a full meal or just fancy a mulled wine and a mince pie.

It was soon time to take our seats for the show. The auditorium is magical, all lit up with a massive stage and a restored fair ground carousel. The show was out of this world and exceeded all my expectations. The Choreography was amazing and all the singers, dancers and musicians were wonderful, from the Organist (how he know what keys and levers to press is beyond me!), Vegas style show girls, choir, to the orchestra. I really can’t pick a favourite bit as it was all so good and they were all so talented. It ended all to soon with the dancers from the show riding the carousel, that was cleverly incorporated into the stage and the release of white doves.

When exiting the show to walk back to the coach all the gardens are lit up with thousands of twinkling lights. I know I have already used the word ‘Magical’ a few times, but it really was and it can’t fail to put you in the Christmas spirit.

I will definitely be going on the trip against next year to see this Magical show which has really got me in the mood for Christmas.

The dates for next year that we are going from outside the Wollaton Travel Service office on Bramcote Lane are Friday 15th November and Friday 13th December 2019.
